History of Viewplus
In 1988, physics professor John Gardner of Oregon State University went blind. While continuing to teach, he had difficulty reading and checking graphics. This prompted him to form a university team to research methods for improving access to graphic information.
In 1996, his team developed a new high resolution embossing technology and patented it. With his wife, John Gardner founded ViewPlus to manufacture embossers.
In 2000, the first product entered the market, the ViewPlus Tiger Advantage printer, built around a dot matrix printer. Since 2000, ViewPlus has developed a variety of braille, hybrid ink, braille, tactile graphics printers.
