The sound enclosure for the ViewPlus SpotDot is a noise-reducing cabinet that the braille embosser sits in while it embosses. The enclosure brings the noise down to max. approx. 60 dB(A), so the SpotDot can stand in an office, a classroom or a library without disturbing the people working around it.
Why a sound enclosure?
- Much less noise: with the embosser inside the enclosure, the noise level is max. approx. 60 dB(A). Every 10 dB less is perceived as roughly half as loud.
- The embosser can stand where you work: no separate printer room is needed, and the person printing can stay at their desk.
- A better working environment: fewer interruptions for colleagues, pupils and library users – even during long print jobs.
- Less dust: with the lid closed, the embosser is protected when it is not in use.
How the enclosure is built
- Room for the whole embosser: the SpotDot measures approx. 59 × 38 × 18 cm and fits easily inside the enclosure of approx. 75 × 76 cm.
- A lid that stays open: the lid opens upwards by the handle and stays up by itself. Allow approx. 75 cm of free height above the enclosure.
- Sound-absorbing lining: the floor, walls and lid are lined with sound-absorbing material.
- Fan: a fan in the side panel keeps the air moving while the embosser works.

Choose the right enclosure
ViewPlus makes sound enclosures for the Columbia, Delta and SpotDot. The enclosures are not the same, so choose the one that fits your embosser:

Before you order
- Measure the space: the enclosure takes up approx. 75 × 76 cm, and you need approx. 75 cm of free height above it to open the lid.
- The surface: place the enclosure on a stable table or printer stand that can carry both the enclosure and the embosser.
- The embosser is not included: if you do not have a SpotDot yet, you can order the ViewPlus SpotDot together with the enclosure.
Frequently asked questions
How much does the enclosure reduce noise?
With the embosser inside, the noise level is max. approx. 60 dB(A). Without an enclosure, a braille embosser typically makes about 70 dB(A) while embossing.
Does the enclosure fit other embossers?
The enclosure is made for the ViewPlus SpotDot. There are separate enclosures for the ViewPlus Columbia and Delta and Delta 2. If you have a different embosser, write to us at info@inva.store.
