KOBA Vision EasyReader – reading machine for blind people

KOBA Vision EasyReader is a reading machine for blind and severely visually impaired people. Put a letter, a book or a newspaper page on the glass, press one button – and EasyReader scans the text and reads it aloud. It works like a DAISY player and is available with a battery pack, so it can be used anywhere. In the new EasyReader AI version, artificial intelligence also describes the layout of the page and translates the text – entirely offline.

Made to be used without sight

• One button to scan: fast and accurate read-aloud – the page is being read moments after the button is pressed.
• Works like a DAISY player: lit, talking buttons that are easy to feel. Navigate by letter, word, sentence, line, block and page.
• 96 voices in 34 languages: Nuance Vocalizer and Acapela with automatic language detection. Write to us before ordering and we will confirm the Danish voice for your unit.
• Columns and PDF: reads with or without column recognition, corrects page orientation and reads PDF files from USB.
• Save and take with you: scans can be saved to USB as text, MP3 or image – with the keyboard also to the built-in drive or an MP3 player.
• Braille display – for deafblind users too: EasyReader connects to a braille display via USB, so the text can also be read in braille.

EasyReader AI – understands the layout too

• Page description: for forms, tables and other complex pages, the built-in artificial intelligence creates a clear description of how the page is structured – not just what it says.
• Translation: if the document is in another language than the user interface, EasyReader AI automatically creates a translated version.
• Fully offline: all AI processing happens inside the reading machine – for privacy, speed and independence from the internet.

Portable with a battery pack

With the battery pack (option), EasyReader runs for up to approx. 7 hours without mains power; charging takes approx. 4 hours. The reading machine weighs 3.8 kg and can be carried in the matching backpack for EasyReader. With the storage keyboard texts can be saved and taken along.

Can EasyReader be used with no sight at all?

Yes. It is made for blind people: one button to scan, buttons that are easy to feel and that say what they do, and DAISY-player style operation.

Can EasyReader be connected to a braille display?

Yes, via USB. The text can then be read in braille – also by deafblind users.

Can EasyReader read Danish?

How long does the battery last?

With the battery pack (option) approx. 7 hours, and it charges in approx. 4 hours. Without the battery pack, EasyReader runs on the power adapter.

What can EasyReader AI do?

EasyReader AI describes the structure of complex pages such as forms and tables and translates documents in other languages – all AI processing happens offline inside the reading machine.

The price excludes VAT and depends on the version and battery pack you choose. The webshop is aimed at municipalities, institutions and businesses.
